My names Ed Karn and I’ve been read many books over the last 35 years. There are 1,400 books on my
Goodreads bookshelves and many many on my home bookshelves yet to be read!! The mission of this site is to chronicle those books read and will be read.
I began creating this site to be a new site, where I could write about three of the most important aspects of my life. Books, Music and Fitness. One of my main objectives in creating the site was to design it so older posts would be accesible.
I began designing the site by importing posts, I have been writing about books since 2010. Then I exported, to a spreadsheet, the books that I have on my Goodreads Bookshelves. I began using Goodreads around 2008, but I had been keeping journals of the books I’d read between 1987 and 2008. So armed with my spreadsheet and my journals I started creating lists of the mystery and thriller series that I read.
What I ended up with was two lists. The first list was a group of authors whose series I read between 1987 and 2001. These are the authors who started me on the roasd to reading book series. The second list was a list of authors whose books I started reading, as early as the early 90s, and their series are still going strong.

The bottom line is that in creating these lists I have discovered, that in the case of many of the older series I used to read there are books in the series i ‘ve missed. In other cases, the author who I stopped reading didn’t stop writing the series.Consequentl, I missed a lot of books. This lead to a decision to at least for a while this site will be solely focused on books. I imagine the books will be mostly series books.
The title of the site hopefully reflects my intentions. First This Man Reads and will continue to read as many books he can in each year! However, I will also be going back and reading books by authors whose series I have read in the past. I want to read the books I missed!
Finally, I wanted this blog to be completely redesigned and contructed before I opened the site. Sadly that has not happened the site is still a work in progress! So bear with me and keep coming back to see what’s new!
