New Blues Albums from Mayall, Karp, Ellis and Morvan

New Blues Albums – March 3, 2018 I haven’t posted here in a long, long while, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been seeking out and listening to new music. I just have been writing at ekkarn.com instead. However, it may be time to start this blog up again. With that being said let’s jump right back into some blues. A few days ago I was reviewing the recent releases as well as the Roots Music Reports Charts and came away with four albums to put into my music rotation. All four are musicians whose music I have listened to…

A Trip to The Princeton Record Exchange Creates Eclectic Playlist

So a couple of Fridays ago, my wife went to the New Jersey State Archives to do some genealogical research. Since I did not have any research to do, I decided to head to the Princeton Record Exchange to spend my two-year old gift certificate. While I didn’t find many new albums I did find nine albums that are not in my music library, from artists I enjoy. Here are the albums group by genre. New Age Next – Jeff Oster  The more I listen to the trumpet and other instruments if Jeff Oster the more I like him. There…

Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America…

If You Want to Understand the Roots of Our Current Political Situation – Read this Book! Over the last few weeks I am finding it more and more difficult to post. Again I haven’t stopped reading, listening or exercising just that when I sit down to write a post, I get distracted and pick up a book or good do something else. Anyway I just finished book 9 of 2017. The following read though is for book 7. A Walk/Jog with a New Fitness Tracker and A New Album from Day Six!

So last week I was searching on Amazon for fitness trackers. The main problem was that I wanted a tracker that had a heart rate monitor and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I discovered the Letscom Smart Bracelet. It does just about everything my Fitbit Charge HR does (except count floors) and does it for around $ 27.00. Needless to say I purchased it and have been using it over the last several days. It seems to be working fairly well the step counts are consistent with the counts that I got from using the Fitbit. Heart Rate…

The Long and Faraway Gone – Lou Berney – A Can’t Put Downer!

The Long and Faraway Gone – Lou Berney A while ago I purchased  the Kindle edition of Lou Berney’s book The Long and Faraway Gone.. Like many of the books I have purchase through Bookbub, it has been in my Kindle unread. Well, something made me take a look at it the other day and I start reading it. It didn’t take long for me to get swept up in the story.   So for the last few days I literally did not want to put the books down. Last night it was getting close to midnight, as I was finishing…

The Unexpected President Paints a New Picture of Chester A Arthur!

The Unexpected President: The Life and Times of Chester A. Arthur Ok quickly tell me everything you learned in history class about President Chester A Arthur. I’ll wait! I bet your done aren’t you? So I imagine that you said ” He became President after James A Garfield was assassinated” or maybe even “he was responsible for Civil Service reform.” I imagine that because that’s just about all I knew about him until I read The Unexpected President: The Life and Times of Chester A. Arthur by Scott S. Greenberger earlier this month. An additional tag line on the front of…
