James Rollins – Grant Blackwood – The Kill Switch – a Tucker Wayne and Kane thriller!!

I have been a fan of James Rollins since I read Map of Bones (Sigma #2) back in 2005. In addition to all the Sigma Force novels, except for the first one, I have read three of  Rollins early stand alone novels and all are great!  The thing that I like best about the Rollins novels is – the science,  no it’s the action, no the political aspects….- the whole package!!! Rediscovering the Books of Richard Hoyt – Fish Story leads to his new book Crow’s Mind!

The first year that I really started to make fairly detailed notes regarding the books that I read that year was 1988.  Recording the exact dates that I read the books didn’t start until March for January and February the books are only listed by the months. Past Reads: May 1987 – A First Encounter with Loren Estleman’s – Amos Walker!

Into the Morning with Ruf Record’s – Thorbjorn Risager “Precious Time”

One of the albums that has been on the iPhone for the last day or so is the new album from Thorbjorn Risager Too Many Roads. I have only given it a couple of listens, but so far I like what I hear. Blues with New Orleans Flavor from the Royal Southern Brotherhood – HeartSoulBlood

One of the albums that has been in my music rotation this week is the new album HeartSoulBlood from the Royal Southern Brotherhood. This is the second release from the Brotherhood following their 2012 self-titled debut album. The Royal Southern Brotherhood is composed of Devon Allman, Cyril Neville, Mike Zito, Charlie Wooten,and Yonrico Scott. Of the five both Devon Allman and Mike Zito’s solo work, appear in my music library.Both of these albums and their 2013 release a live album titled Songs from the Road have been released on Ruf Records with the legendary Jim Gaines serving as the producer….

Evening Thoughts – Pinetop Perkins to Victor Wainwright and Southern Hospitality!

Today way back in the year of 1913 on this date James William Perkins was born  in Belzoni, Mississippi. Ninety-seven (97) years later now know better by his stage named Pinetop Perkins, he won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album for Joined at the Hip, an album he recorded with Willie “Big Eyes” Smith. Perkins is the oldest-ever Grammy winner. In between he  had a fantastic career  that saw him play with many of the most influential blues and rock and roll performers in American history.
