More Books! After a Trip to Book World and Goodwill! Yeah!

So if you complain about how much someone drinks , you don’t take them to a bar! Likewise for someone who over eats you don’t take them to an all you can eat joint.

Finally, if you don’t like how many books someone has you don’t take them to places where they can by cheap books!

This is the result when you do……

More Books after Saturdays Shopping Trip

And it happened this past Saturday when we were babysitting our grandson Oliver.

Our First Stop – Book World

We made two stops the first was Book World in Cherry Hill, NJ. The store has a large selection of nice inexpensive children’s books, as well as, a variety of overstock books for adults, both fiction and nonfiction. Just the place to get more books.

The top three books on the pile came from Book World. The top to are nonfiction books. The first is Civil War Goats and Scapegoats. I have read many books about the Civil War and this book seems like it covers a lot of interesting stuff.

“Civil War Goats and Scapegoats” looks at the good, the bad, and the ugly among the politicians and generals in the Civil War, North and South. Organized into three parts – the eastern theater, the western theater, and Andersonville – the book describes major blunders made by generals in 17 battles.
The Civil War had its share of goats and scapegoats…. Read More

Next came Inspector Oldfield and the Black Hand Society.written by William Oldfield the inspectors great-grandson…..From Goodreads…

The incredible true story of the US Post Office Inspector who took down the deadly Black Hand, a turn-of-the-century Italian-American secret society that preyed on immigrants across America’s industrial heartland—featuring fascinating and never-before-seen documents and photos from the Oldfield family’s private collection. The final book from this first stop was Barely Legal (Herbie Fisher #1) by Stuart Woods and Parnell Hall. When I start reflecting on and listing all the authors Whose works I have read over the last 33 years Parnell Hall came out on top. And The Stuart Woods books I’ve read totals zero.

I didn’t even know, that over the last few years of his life, Parnell had co-authored books with Woods. And here was one of them how could I pass it up!

Stop Two Goodwill in Audubon for MORE Books

There are many people in the Audubon area who have good taste in books. As a result, I always find several good books each time we visit the store. Saturday’s visit was no exception. There I found another Stuart Woods and Parnell Hall book. This one was Skin Game.(Teddy Fay #3) And the best thing is both of the Woods/Hall books feature a different lead character.

The other two books from Goodwill were Sniper’s Honor by Stephen Hunter and The Rembrandt Affair by Daniel Silva.

Sniper’s Honor is book 9 in Hunter’s Bob Lee Swagger series. I hadn’t read a Bob Lee Swagger novel for many years prior to my reading of Game of Sniper’s in 2020. I enjoyed that book a lot and I look forward to reading Sniper’s Honor.

Last  but not least comes The Rembrandt Affair  from Daniel Silva. It is book 10 in Silvia’s Gabriel Allon series. While I have only read four of the 21 books in the series, I have been collecting  hard back copies of the series for the last several years. Many have beeen found at Goodwill. I now have ten books on my Daniel Silva bookshelf.

Resting place for my new Daniel Silva book

The problem is I got stuck on The Messenger  book #5. I have started it several times only to get sucked into another book and set it down. I think the only solution is to skip maybe a few books start the series there and go back and read The Messenger later – yeah right!

Anyway, the total cost for all seven books was $ 20 75 plus tax. The good news is I put The Rhenbrant Affair on the Silva Shelf and the others on shelves were I can see them and feel guilty if I don’t read them! LOL!

Oh and by the way I do thank my wife for graciously not reminding me that I don’t really need more books …. even though I think I do!
