February Reads Take Me From San Diego to Sweden!

Here are my four February Reads. In the order that I liked them. The favorite on the top and the least favorite on the bottom. Basically I liked them all.

Good Girl/Bad Girl – Michael Robotham

Good Girl,Bad Girl one of my February ReadsGood Girl – Bad Girl is book one in a new series from one of my favorite authors Michael Robotham. It features forensic physiologist Cyrus Haven. Good story, better characters! It was the favorite among my February Reads. I hope to write a more comprehensive review soon.

Dark Site – Patrick Lee

Dark Site one of my February ReadsDark Site by Patrick Lee is the third book in his Sam Dryden series. The book opens with the attempted abduction of Danica Ellis. Concurrently, An attempt is made to abduct Sam Dryden. When Sam obtains his abductors phone he is led to Danica’s step-father’s house. He arrives at the house and saves Danica. And then the questions begin. They don’t know each other so why is someone targeting them??  Soon they learn, through military scrub-files that each had been in Ashland, Iowa in 1989 and had their memories of that summer erased by the military.  Why? Did they know each other? And why is someone after them 30 years later??

The story is told in chapters that alternate between 1989 and 2019 and it’s a good one!  I always enjoy Lee’s story lines and his character development. Check it Out!

The Janes – Louisa Luna

The Janes one of my February ReadsThe Janes – Louisa Luna  The Janes is the second book to feature Alice Vega and Max Caplin. After two Latino young girls are found murdered in San Diego the police call Alice Vega  “expert finder if lost children” to consult on the investigation. Soon it is discovered that both girls have implanted IUDs. Additionally, the numbers of the IUD are only several numbers apart. Vega and Caplin are, thus, thrust into an investigation that involves sex trafficking and underage prostitution. It’s a wild ride!!

Years ago I stopped reading. Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt novels because it always seemed Pitt and Giordano escaped from situations that would lead to the death of any normal human. That’s how I felt about Vega several times in this book. But she’s a kick-ass character and I know I’ll be all in when the next book comes around!

The Demon of  Dakar – Kjell Eriksson

The Demon of Dakar one of my February ReadsThe Demon of Dakar – Kjell Eriksson. Ann Lindell # 7. I very rarely write notes while I’m reading but as I read this book made a note – who the hell are these people and why do I care about any of them! I was fifty pages into the book before Ann Lindell and her team were called in to investigate a murder!

When I first saw the title I thought The Demon would be a serial killer with Ann and her crew hot on his trail but that was not the case. The Dakar is a restaurant in Uppsala Sweden and I don’t know what the Demon is …. my guess it’s drugs. And overall the police and Ann Lindell don’t play a big part in the story!

I did like the ending though and overall I guess the book was pretty good. I think if I reread the book with  a different mindset I may like it more, but who knows.

With these four February Reads my books read total is nine.  And I am still on track to reach my goal of 60 books read.
